Who we are

The South Sudan Red Cross Society (SSRC) came into existence as a legitimate successor of the former Southern Unit of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. The SSRC was established by an Act of Parliament (law) on 9 March 2012 with the SSRC Society Act, 2012. It was as recognized by other two movement components, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This SSRC was formally recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on 18th June 2013, making it the 189th National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in the world.
The SSRC is auxiliary to the public authorities in the humanitarian field.
