Peer to Peer: Torit branch hosts staff, volunteers, and board members from different branches

Staff, volunteers, and board representatives from the branches of Juba, Yambio and Mundri visited South Sudan Red Cross Torit Branch. The peer-to-peer visit is intended to promote learning and develop joint platform for the different branches to share information and experiences that can help move the branches and the national society a step ahead.

South Sudan Red Cross is adapting to enhance interbranch relationship and stronger regional connections of branches for easy support in terms expertise, development strategies, and coordination in case of needs during emergencies.

The team of staff, volunteers and board representatives believed that there is a lot to learn locally amongst branches in relation to volunteers’ management, resource mobilization initiatives, and relationships between board and management in the respective branches. “It has been a great idea to conduct this peer-to-peer visit amongst the branches locally.

There are many great initiatives in the various branches which the rest of the branches can copy in relation to volunteers’ management or income generating activities. We have expertise in several fields in the branches that we can learn from”, emphasized Dr Mustafa Lokuru, the Representative of SSRC National Executive Council during the visit.

Meanwhile, Eunice Nakiru – the Chairperson of Governing Board Members in SSRC Torit Branch explained the importance of the visit which often has not been regularly happening in the National Society. She urged the participants to be united under the seven fundamental principles of the movement for sustainable service delivery to the local communities.

The peer-to-peer visit was interactive, and action packed as the team planted trees in Torit Office Compound and Moti Orphanage Centre for remembrance, conducted clean-up campaign at Torit Hospital to demonstrate the spirit of volunteerism to the public, and they made presentations on volunteers’ management, resource mobilization, and relationship between board and management in the respective branches.
