Two months later, she came to the South Sudan Red Cross to help her trace her family members. The young mother, a resident of Malakal with the support of the SSRC was able to be connected with her family once again through the component of Restoration of Family Links (RFL).
“I lost contact with my family since the eruption of the conflict in Sudan and when I saw the South Sudan Red Cross, I remembered that they are the right people to help re unite me and my family, thank you so much for the genuine support.” Aban said.
In the main transit center of the returnees and the refuges in Renk County of Upper Nile State, the SSRC intervened with some emergency response such as restoration of family links activities as well as water sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
South Sudan Red Cross, together with the International Committee of the Red Cross are working tirelessly to reconnect families separated due to armed conflict or any forms of violence through phone call sessions and Red Cross messages. Since the conflict begun in Sudan in April to September, we have connected 6,585 Individuals with phone calls and 2,565 with Red Cross Messages mainly in Renk, Maban, Wadwil, Malakal and Aweil.
